JENAI

On the heels of her phenomenal success as a songwriter, Jenai (pronounced Juh-NIGH) is finally coming into her own as a recording artist. Entering the country music landscape with a collection of songs that reflect her joy in today and hope for the future, Jenai is poised for success and is firmly establishing herself in Nashville Music scene.

Known industry-wide for penning 2004’s Most Played Female Country Song, “Suds in the Bucket,” recorded by superstar Sara Evans, Jenai has carved a reputation as a dynamic vocalist, songwriter and musician. As a songwriter, she has landed cuts by numerous country artists and, to her credit, the popular Animal Planet Channel chose her song, “I Could Use a Hero” as the theme song for three of their highest rated television shows.

Her Moraine Records debut disc, “Dragonfly Blue,” produced by five-time Grammy award winning producer Brent Maher, is scheduled for release in 2006.

Inspired artistically by her experiences growing up in rural Idaho, Jenai was raised mostly without radio. She fed her hunger for music with her family's record collection, which included Bobbie Gentry, Carole King, Janis Joplin, Marty Robbins, and Hank Williams. Most important to her musical appreciation was the cozy kitchen of her house where she and her family made music together.

As a teenager, Jenai was propelled toward a major in classical music with a concentration in voice and conducting at a performing arts college in Seattle. Early performance experience in college opera productions with the St. James Cathedral Choir proved one thing: JENAI liked being out front, letting others take her lead. She took that attitude back to Idaho and began a five-year tour playing bass and fronting a band singing everything from Zeppelin to the Judds, honing her skills and gathering confidence from an appreciative audience.

Jenai first caught the ear of well-known producer and Moraine Records CEO, Brent Maher, soon after relocating from the Pacific Northwest to Nashville to pursue her musical career. Maher recognized Jenai’s immense talent and immediately signed her to a publishing deal, and before long, to a record deal.

As an artist and musician, Jenai continues to earn the respect of her peers and receive critical acclaim for her music. Jenai is the real thing; her sense of style is not a Hollywood version of contrived earthiness but real, fresh air, suntanned coolness.
