An impressive list of guest artists came forward to lend their voices on Thomas debut album, Flags of Our Fathers; A Soldiers Story. Recorded as a tribute to our troops and their families, the disc is a stellar collection of songs written or co-written by Thomas that tell the stories inspired by life in the military and by those who serve our nation. The project was produced by five-time Grammy award winning producer, Brent Maher, and noted songwriter, Mark Selby.
Special guest artists on the album include Vince Gill and Emmylou Harris on the poignant top 40 ballad, Not Me; the phenomenal Michael McDonald on 7 Days, the unmistakable voice of Kenny Rogers introducing Circle on the Cross, the signature harmonies of Blackhawk members Henry Paul and Dave Robbins on, Gloryland, (co-written by the duo with Thomas and noted tunesmith, Billy Montana); and the immensely talented Shawn Mullins on, Send Me. Gloryland, is rapidly climbing Billboard hot country singles chart.
In addition to being the founder and driving creative force behind his band, Cornbread, Thomas possesses a personal story that is unusual and uniquely inspiring. A former Army Ranger and member of the elite Task Force Ranger assault unit, Thomas fought in the Somalia battle recounted in the book and motion picture Black Hawk Down. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor and the Combat Infantrymans Badge. Thomas spent four more years in the Army as an assistant team leader for the 75th Ranger Regimental Reconnaissance Detachment. He got out of the Army to work as a counselor in an outdoor therapeutic program for troubled youth.
Thomas is a national spokesman for the Hero Fund (www.HeroFund.com) and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides college educations to the children of our special ops personnel killed in combat or training. A portion of the procceds from Thomas album will benefit the Hero Fund.
Keni Thomas is on a mission; hes determined to use his gift to touch as many as possible and deliver a message through his music. Most people want to go through life knowing they're making a difference, Thomas recently said. With what I'm doing, I know that I have a purpose."
