SEAN LOCKE

For Sean Locke, music isn’t really a choice…it is just a way of life. Locke was born and raised in the small town of Iola, Kansas in southeastern corner of the state. Growing up with his Grandparents, Locke credits them for his passion for country music, since they always had music playing in the house. When asked which artists influenced Locke the most he responds, “The usual suspects…Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and The Wilburn Brothers.” And it is obvious when listening to his songs – which often include a hint of these legendary artists.

.Sean first realized his love for performing at age sixteen when he first sang on the Opry in Burlington, Kansas, which led to a few years of performing with his band on the Midwestern club circuit and VFW Halls. Locke then made the move to Nashville to pursue his career in music. “Since music is all I know - it’s my only real skill - I thought Nashville was the only place I could actually make a living.” After arriving in Nashville, Locke started writing and landed a publishing deal where he further developed his unique sound. Locke is currently in the studio with Grammy-winning producer Brent Maher working on his debut release.

Locke enjoyed his first hit as a songwriter when his song “Barbed Wire and Roses” became the breakthrough single for Pinmonkey. The members of Pinmonkey also admire Sean’s gift as a singer adding; “It is Sean’s ability as a singer that raises him above the crowd…his voice is truly distinctive.” Locke’s songs have also been recorded by Gary Allan, Bruce Robison, Kieran Kane, The Gibson Brothers and others. Kane adds, “In a musical world of posture, smoke and mirrors, Sean is reality.”
