- The Tennessean

Nashville based singer/songwriter Liza Holbrook, signed a record deal with Republic Records at 16 with her sisters in the band SHEL.  Now emerging under the name Teddie Collinz as a solo artist, her first solo EP was released drawing inspiration from Imogen Heap, Melody Gardot, LP, Portishead, and Billie Eilish.  The ‘Truth Is’ EP proves to be a pop forward record with diverse sub genres including jazz, classical, and trip hop mixed in. This project started when tours were canceled and life was put on hold due to the 2020 pandemic. The lock down in Nashville presented an opportunity to find solace in creation for Teddie.  Finding new truths and avenues for expression beyond the confines of other projects or commitments. Writing and working through the spring and summer of 2020, themes of loss, love, new perspectives, and an ache for true belonging and home emerged into the seven song release ‘Truth Is’.

The 2019 holiday release "Wonderful Feeling" by Jars of Clay & SHEL was written & sung by Teddie. That particular song went on to become the most played track on the album with over 600,000 spins on Spotify alone!  SHEL was known for their stunning musicianship with infectious rhythms and hypnotic vocals that led to many of SHEL’s songs being placed in Films and Television shows including: The Fosters to The Nicolas Sparks film, The Best of Me; and major brands including Chevy, Toys R Us, Amica, Glade and more.  The TV show, Queen America (starring Catherine Zeta Jones), features SHEL’s songs as the score for all 10 Episodes highlighting SHEL’s unique vocalizations reworked with their scoring partner, Kevin Dailey.

With years of touring with SHEL across the US, UK, and Europe, playing drums, djembe and beatboxing, Teddie is now working with other artists based out of Nashville.
