ABOUT
“In a musical world of posture, smoke and mirrors, Sean is reality.”
-Kieran Kane
Sean Locke said music wasn’t really a choice; it is just a way of life when he moved to Nashville at 18 years old. Born and raised in the small rural town of Iola in southeastern Kansas, Locke was raised by his grandparents and credits them for fueling his lifetime passion for country music. “I grew up listening to the usual suspects,” Locke comments. “Merle Haggard, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, the Wilburn Brothers, and The O’Kanes. Those artists continue to be my primary influences.”
After arriving in Nashville, Locke emerged as a gifted songwriter of diversity with depth. While being passed on by all the major labels for being too country, and not agreeing to change, Locke focused on writing which led to cuts on artists ranging from Gary Allan to Pinmonkey’s breakthrough hit single, “Barbed Wire & Roses.” Locke began writing with some of his musical heroes, which included Jamie O’Hara and Kieran Kane. Even though Locke did not release his album, Kane started recording the songs he and Locke co-wrote on numerous releases over the years.
